Last night we wrapped up the video taping of Nightlights’ very first episode in Indianapolis! What amazes me is, we haven’t even aired the show in Indy yet and we’ve already had a really great response and people who are saying they know about our show. As you may know, we’ve been doing Nightlights in the Michiana/South Bend area for nearly three years…and since moving to Indy…I think big things are about to happen!
For the first episode, of course we hit up Broad Ripple. I’ll have to admit, although I’ve been doing this for almost three years, I was a little nervous going into Midtown Grill. I felt like since we’re in a bigger city, I had to step up my game and then there’s also the mental factor of being in a town that’s not familiar. In every episode I talk with the patrons to get their perspective on the place we’re featuring, and I wasn’t sure how people in Indy would react to being on camera. I kind of had that same ‘deer in headlights’ feeling from when we did the very first episode at Club Noma in South Bend when we first began doing Nightlights. Ok not quite the ‘deer in headlights’ thing…but almost.
After I got over the initial shock and got into my rhythm, I came to the relieving conclusion that people are pretty much the same
wherever you go; some people are dying to be on camera…others absolutely do NOT want to be on…there’s the people who say they don’t want to be on but can easily be talked into it…some people like to grab the mic and try to take over my job haha…oh and then there’s always the funny people who like to throw out the “I’m wanted in 50 states” so I can’t be on camera joke. So anyway I had fun meeting Mr. Wade, one of the regulars and the steak at Midtown was probably one of the best I’ve ever had!
The next segment of the first Nightlights – Indianapolis episode is the Alley Cat Lounge. They are so nice there and I felt really comfortable and at ease…maybe it had something to do with Maurie, the bartender who always made sure I had a stiffy in my hand…oops…I meant a stiff drink in my hand! I guess that’s what the Cat is famous for… affordable stiff drinks. And as far as drinks go, it doesn’t get any better than that!
You must try their signature drink, the Kitty Cat Quaalude. It’s like a strawberry white Russian and kind of tastes like one of those Cream Saver candies.
I had a nice time…and one of my besties from high school even came out! I also got to sport my custom-made t-shirt by my first clothing sponsor, T.Party t-shirts! Look for it in the segment; it says “I like to T.Party with Beers” …I thought it was very fitting and clever. T.Party’s debut fashion show is coming up this Thursday (Sept 30) at the Blu Martini! We’ll be doing a LIVE webcast at the event and I will also be modeling in it! Make sure you subscribe to my blog because I will be posting pictures and writing about T.Party’s debut in my next blog entry!
