Today marks the four-year anniversary of when the first episode of Nightlights (the show I host) went to broadcast back up in Michiana on a local TV station. This past weekend during Super Bowl at the 9th annual Leather & Laces party was a major step in my career. I felt so honored to be asked to do red carpet celebrity interviews and be the on-camera host for the party’s video! As I was rubbing shoulders with the stars I took a step back to take it all in…because I had never really imagined I’d ever be here in this position. I think I’ve come a long way from “that shy girl from nowhere land” (more specifically, Elkhart IN…it’s close to South Bend haha)
Leather & Laces was my first experience interviewing celebrities and I have to admit, I was a little nervous! Hosting on-camera when it’s a new experience always makes me nervous…I think because I’m not sure what to expect. But, I always seem to get through it and get into my grove after the first couple moments.
As I was standing on the red carpet waiting for the celebrities to arrive, I kept reminding myself that they are just people too but that they happen to be in the public eye. But then Jenny McCarthy rounded the corner…

*One thing I learned about the red carpet is that you can judge how famous a person is by the amount of time they take pictures and by the amount of yelling from the photographers!
I was one of the first in the line up to do interviews…right before Access Hollywood. Great! (that was a sarcastic great lol)
So Jenny McCarthy rounded the corner, took her pictures and then made her way over to me and another girl who was hosting for another video. The first thing out of McCarthy’s mouth was, ‘What up bitches!” haha (By the way…McCarthy is even more gorgeous in real life than what I’ve seen in photos…her blue eyes are striking! I was like…”are you kidding me!?” lol)
Jenny McCarthy was probably my favorite interview that night. I felt I connected with her most and wish I could hang out with her! She seemed pretty cool. She said I look like we could be related and called me sista at the end of the interview. :)
Carmen Electra was next. She is such a darling. I just couldn’t get over how amazingly beautiful these women are!
Jenni Farley (JWoww from Jersey Shore) was next and then Saturday night was Holly, Bridget and Kendra from The Girls Next Door.

It’s just so weird to me still to have been standing there talking with them in person. I’ve watched both those shows and never would have thought I’d ever meet them …let alone interview them on the red carpet! It’s like someone peeled them off of the magical barrier that is the TV screen and set them right down in front of me.

During the party I got to do some more interviews and hang out up in the celebrity VIP area while we got some footage for the video. At some point my camera guy told me Phillip Seymour Hoffman was behind me and that I should go talk to him. I didn’t see Hoffman…but rather this guy who looked similar. I know sometimes celebrities don’t always look the same in real life…plus it was kind of dark…so I just went with it. It wasn’t until about halfway through the interview that my camera guy pulled me aside and exclaimed, “That’s the bacon joke guy!” … You mean Jim Gaffigan!!!? I love that comedian! I started freaking out! Lol …That bacon joke is one of my favorites and I couldn’t believe I’d been talking with the comedian of that joke and didn’t even realize it until halfway through! Lol So random!

I also interviewed Pat Mcafee of the Indianapolis Colts. He was such a character! Plus I guess he’s friends with Kendra (Girls Next Door) and her husband Hank Baskett.
Leather & Laces was such an awesome experience! Look for the video coming out soon on Nightlights! You can follow the show on Facebook, Twitter and/or sign up for our newsletter on the website. Also, I will be releasing my celebrity interviews on my Facebook and Twitter!
